Editorial policy

How Bernev.com publishes: the distinction between news and longer analysis, required visuals and sources, jurisdiction labels, and the separation of news from commercial pages.

Formats

One publication section, different editorial purposes

New publications receive a defined content_format. This determines their schema, news-sitemap eligibility, minimum visuals, source requirements and internal links.

News brief

report an event, rule, official letter, decision or practical risk promptly

Length: 1,500–3,500 characters

Currency: up to 48 hours in sitemap-news.xml

  • cover image at least 1200 px wide
  • one factual illustration, document screenshot, diagram or table

  • an official source for the event or document
  • one internal link to a service, client situation or detailed analysis

news_analysis · eligible for NewsArticle

News analysis

explain the implications for an importer, trade transaction, court case or FCS dispute

Length: 4,000–8,000 characters

Currency: up to 48 hours in sitemap-news.xml; retained as a regular page afterwards

Visuals

  • cover image at least 1200 px wide
  • one diagram of the consequences or a timeline
  • one visual showing documents, rates, deadlines or a route

  • an official primary source
  • an internal link to a relevant business situation
  • a related FAQ or evergreen article

explainer · standard Article

Explainer

introduce a topic clearly without presenting it as news

Length: 7,000–14,000 characters

Currency: updated when the law, case law or authority's position changes

  • two substantive illustrations, diagrams, tables or document extracts

  • 2–4 internal links to services, client situations, FAQs or related publications

Long-form article

Currency: reviewed on a schedule or when relevant practice changes

Comprehensive guide

Google News

News is separate from reference and commercial pages

Only recent news_brief/news_analysis entries belong in sitemap-news.xml. Longer analysis, FAQs, services, case studies and commercial pages remain regular pages eligible for indexing.

Requirements for news submissions

  • a visible publication date and, where applicable, update date
  • the author and a link to the author page
  • a visible source for the fact or document
  • visuals that explain the event rather than decorate the page
  • a clear distinction between facts, legal assessment and business implications
  • transparent contact and editorial information

Content not submitted as news

  • evergreen instructions and comprehensive reference guides
  • service pages, commercial landing pages and FAQs
  • content without a primary source
  • rewritten older publications without a new event

Every publication needs a defined purpose, sources, useful visuals, relevant internal links and clear limits to its legal assessment. Length alone is not an editorial objective.

Jurisdiction and safeguards

Russia, the EAEU, China, the US and Europe require separate legal assessments

The website focuses on Russian legal proceedings and disputes with Russian authorities. Coverage of a foreign trade route identifies the relevant sources and limits separately.

Russian customs disputes, the FCS, courts, post-release checks, payments, documents and procedures

  • distinguish OFAC/BIS/export control issues from the Russian customs dispute
  • state when the source was checked
  • do not propose sanctions evasion or concealment of beneficial owners, routes or end use

Europe

the EU, UK, Netherlands, Germany and other trade routes connected with Russian import disputes

  • distinguish EU law, UK law and Russian procedure
  • check the relevant country's sanctions lists, export restrictions and customs sources

AI systems and structured data

Structured data describes visible page content only. Schema is not used for empty, hidden or decorative sections.

llms.txt, sitemap.xml, sitemap-news.xml and the Atom feed help automated systems find key pages. They do not replace good writing, reliable sources or useful visuals.

Google-Extended is allowed in robots.txt under a separate Gemini/Vertex policy. This setting is not treated as a Google Search ranking factor.
